Our Story of Culture and Compassion.
In the heart of Birmingham’s vibrant Broad Street, our 100 seat Restaurant Barajee is a classical Indian restaurant designed with the discerning diner in mind, with a philosophy established by our founder since 1987. Barajee has grown to be one of the most popular Indian Restaurants in Birmingham, and our menu is packed with classic Indian and Bangladeshi dishes. We offer some very special dishes such as our Barajee exclusive exotic fish dishes and Tandoori Sizzling Specialities.
Birmingham is known as “the home of the Balti” - and it is a speciality too at Barajee. Most recently, we have been awarded Best Restaurant (Casual) by the WoWs Awards 2024 as well as many other prestigious awards for our service to the local and touring diners.
Our Founder Dr M G Moula Miah, MBE
The founder of Barajee, Dr M G Moula Miah MBE has been a leading figure head and representative of the Curry Industry, and has campaigned for the better of Bangladeshi restaurants for over four decades. Since a very young age, he has shown determination to truly reflect Bangladeshi culture in a beautiful way in a multicultural society, and his drive was described as mainstream press and media as a 'Man on a mission to back Bangladeshi Food'. His expertise and cultural passion has been remarkably reflected through the restaurant's menu. Over the years his chain of restaurants have won awards and accolades, but also have hit headlines for the community work that they partake in. He was bestowed as MBE in 2024 for his services to the Bangladeshi community and for his charity work.
